Beer: Samuel Adams Boston Lager
Brewed: Boston Beer Company, Boston, USA
Alcohol Content: 4.8%

World Beer Rating: 9/10. This is a surprise, a real surprise. Lovely beer.

Beer: Goose Island Honkers Ale
Brewed: Goose Island Beer Company, Chicago, Illinois USA
Alcohol Content: 4.3%
Size: 355mL
Sourced: Noble Green Wines, Hampton Hill, London, United Kingdom.

World Beer Rating: 9/10. What a excellent well rounded beer! Very much a fruity hoppy flavour with no bitter aftertaste. Tasted like a craft beer. I really enjoyed it, which goes to show to that the United States really can make excellent beers - if only they exported more of the good ones!

Beer: Lone Star
Brewed: Miller Brewing Company, Woodridge, Illinois USA
Alcohol Content: 4.7%
Size: 335mL
Sourced: Premier Wines, Strawberry Hill, London, United Kingdom

World Beer Rating: 5/10. Firstly this beer is mighty proud of it's Texan heritage and tells you all over it's label, but it's brewed in Illinois because it sold out and had it's brewery closed down. Secondly it's well carbonated and bitter, but pretty boring in other areas. However it's not unlikable in that I'd happily drink it if nothing else was available. I like the label more than the beer.

Beer: AleSmith Speedway Stout
Brewed: AleSmith Brewing Company, San Diego, California,  USA
Alcohol Content: 12.0%
Size: 750mL
Sourced: Half Time Beverage, Poughkeepsie, NY, USA

World Beer Rating: 10/10. This stout is fantastic, chocolate and coffee all over the place! World class.

Beer: Coney Island Albino Python
Brewed: Shmaltz Brewing Company, Brooklyn, New York USA
Alcohol Content: 6.0%
Size: 750mL
Sourced: Half Time Beverage, Poughkeepsie, NY, USA

World Beer Rating: 6/10. Great label, beer lacked a punch. Cloudy, fizzy, nice, but not great.

Beer: Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout
Brewed: Brewed by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Chico, California USA
Alcohol Content: 10.2%
Size: 355mL
Sourced: Noble Green Wines, Hampton Hill, United Kingdom.

World Beer Rating: 10/10. Mind blowingly good. A true Imperial Russian Stout with masses of absolutely everything. One of the best stouts I've ever had.

  1. Great post! Laura introduced me to your blog and I think it's awesome. We're native Texans currently traveling through Australia and the sight of a Lone Star beer makes our mouths water. Imagine a hot, sunny day by the river with your best friends and an ice chest of of Lone Stars. Nothing better! And at 50 cents a beer, it's an beautiful thing. Cheers!
